A short notice
How I use what you tell me
If you ring or email, you are handing me information about your family. This page says what I do with it. I am not a clinic and I do not have a form on this site — it is just me, Joanne Fishwick, working from Darley Abbey, Derby.
What I collect
Only what you choose to give me, usually:
- Your name, phone number and email address.
- Your child’s first name, age or year group, and what you are seeing at home and at school.
- Anything you send on afterwards — a school report, a diagnostic assessment, or notes from a SENCO.
If we work together I will also keep a short written summary of the first session, and brief notes from the weekly work, so I can tell you what has shifted.
Why I keep it
To reply to you, to decide whether I am the right person, and to do the teaching if we go ahead. I do not sell it, I do not pass it to mailing lists, and I do not use it to advertise to you.
The legal bases under UK GDPR are straightforward: I need it to answer an enquiry or to provide a service we have agreed (contract and legitimate interests), and I keep some records because I have to — safeguarding, insurance, and basic accounts (legal obligation).
Children’s information
I work with children, so some of what you tell me is about them. I take that from you, the parent or carer, not from the child. I do not photograph children for this site or for my records, and I do not put a child’s full name on anything that leaves this house unless you have asked me to write to school.
Who else sees it
Almost nobody. I will not speak to a school, an assessor or anyone else about your child unless you have asked me to. The exceptions are the obvious ones: if I am worried a child is at risk I have a duty to say so, and my insurer or a regulator might need to see records if something went wrong.
The website is hosted by Vercel. Email to hello@fishwickdyslexia.co.uk is forwarded to my own inbox. Both are processors in the narrow sense that they carry the message. Neither of them uses it for their own purposes.
How long I keep it
If we talk and you do not book, I delete the enquiry after twelve months. If we work together I keep session notes and the written summary for two years after the last session, then I destroy them. I may keep invoices longer if the tax rules require it. Those do not need to name your child.
Your rights
You can ask me what I hold, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email hello@fishwickdyslexia.co.uk or call 07790 350499. If you are not happy with my answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
This website
There is no account to create and no tracking cookies. The pages are ordinary files. If I add analytics later, I will say so here first.
